Leisure Programs

For most, if not all, of the hundreds of individuals who participate, ARCh’s leisure activities for adults are much more than just “something to do”; Thursday Night Socials (dances at a local school) and small group outings to arts or sporting events provide opportunities for our friends and neighbors with disabilities to develop their social skills and confidence, to interact with other human beings in a social setting, to participate in community life.  These activities, sponsored by ARCh’s Leisure Services program, also provide parents and caregivers with a rare and much-needed break from the constant responsibilities of caring for an individual with significant needs. If you have questions regarding any of our leisure programs, please contact the ARCh office at 262-542-9811, Ext.13.

T.N.T. - It's Dynamite!
The T.N.T. Group was started in 2004. A group of parents had been talking for some time about the need for a structured social group for young adults recently leaving the school district. The parents would provide support in the planning and transportation, and chaperone the young adults to events in the community and in the homes of the participants. Meetings are held at ARCh during the winter to plan upcoming events and just “hang out.” During the spring and summer months, we do as many outdoor activities as possible!

Participation in T.N.T. is open to young adults (ages 21-39), who are members of ARCh. Each young adult is asked to have a sponsor. In most cases this is a family member, but others are welcome. The sponsor assists with planning, chaperoning and transportation. Each individual is responsible for any costs for the activities, and for his or her personal care needs. Achievements? There are many! We have seen these young adults become friends. Their socialization has increased, along with their awareness of what friendship is. We have had two service projects that were very popular.

Examples of past activities include: pizza parties, ComedySportz, pool party, video night, Packer night, mini golf, Admirals game, Brewers “Buckethead” game, water ski show, theater, etc. Upcoming activities include: Six Flags, Museum, horseback riding, go-karts, paddle boats, and much more! Check the calendar for dates and times.  If you are interested in meeting the young adults in this group please call the ARCh office at 262-542-9811 with your RSVP.
