Camp Pow Wow Questions        Camp Pow Wow Schedule

What is GOOD as GOLD? It's ARCh Camp Pow Wow!  We are proud and excited to announce our Golden Anniversary 50th season, and to invite our friends and neighbors with disabilities to “Find Your Treasure” this summer!

We are also delighted to announce camp leadership for this very special summer, when Ms. Kristin Damato and Ms. Lauren Highum will co-direct Camp Pow Wow with excellence and enthusiasm.  Kristin is currently serving as Program Support Coordinator at ARCh, and has experience as professional staff in an area group home, as well as serving on the Camp Pow Wow staff last summer.  Lauren is an ARCh Youth Team alumna and current nursing student who has spent 3 years as a counselor and instructor at Pow Wow.  They are hard at work assembling a dynamic and hard-working team of skilled veteran staff, as well as some fun new faces!

This season promises to be our very best, with a new gardening program, specialized equipment and resources for campers with sensory needs, and some great new theme weeks (“Pirate Pallooza!”, “Sensory Safari!”, and “Then & Now!”), along with some exciting surprises.  Of course, camp will still be chock-full of traditional favorites like swimming, fishing, sleeping overnight in tents, rowdy songs around the campfire, and moments our campers will treasure forever!

Camp Pow Wow offers residential and day camp options for people of all ages and a variety of abilities.  Campers make friends and develop new skills through experiences in swimming, fishing, canoeing, arts and crafts, recreation, music and nature.  Theme weeks provide campers with the opportunity to explore science, the outdoors and the arts through visits by special guests and activities including horseback riding and fire safety training.  As one of the first camps in the area established to serve people with disabilities, Camp Pow Wow remains committed to accommodating all needs; no one is turned away due to disability or financial circumstance.

Since 1959, Camp Pow Wow has been providing outdoor recreational opportunities for adults and children with disabilities. Located in scenic Menomonee Park, Pow Wow gives campers a taste of the camp experience without going too far from home. In 1998, a lodge was built as the camps home base, providing us with a full service kitchen, bathrooms, nurse's office, and air conditioning to help cool off those hot summer days. Last year, 200 campers joined us for "fun in the sun" at Camp Pow Wow.
